Cookie Policy

This policy explains how AutoAvenue uses cookies and similar technologies on our vehicle marketplace platform.

1. What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by the websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to the site owners.

We also use related technologies such as local storage and session storage in your browser. For simplicity, this policy refers to all of these as "cookies."

2. How AutoAvenue Uses Cookies

We group the cookies we use into the following categories:

Essential cookies

Required for the platform to function. Without these, you cannot sign in, list a vehicle, or complete a purchase.

  • Authentication session cookies set by Supabase to keep you signed in
  • CSRF tokens used to protect form submissions from cross-site request forgery
  • Session cookies used during payment processing with Scotiabank Hosted Payment Page (Scotia HPP)

Functional cookies

Remember choices you have made so we can give you a more personal experience. These are not strictly required but they improve usability.

  • Your selected filters and sort preferences on the browse page
  • Dismissed notices, onboarding hints, and similar UI preferences

3. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are set by services we integrate with rather than by AutoAvenue directly. We rely on the following third parties:

  • Supabase — authentication and database, sets session cookies on our behalf
  • Scotiabank Hosted Payment Page — handles card payments; you will be redirected to Scotiabank during checkout, where their cookies apply
  • Vercel — the hosting platform that serves AutoAvenue; may set minimal infrastructure cookies
  • Google Fonts — used to load typography; loading a font triggers a network request to Google
  • Mapbox — used to render location maps on vehicle listings; may use browser storage

AutoAvenue does not currently load any third-party advertising, marketing, or product-analytics scripts (such as Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, PostHog, or similar). If we add any of these in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent.

4. Controlling Cookies

Most browsers let you view, manage, and delete cookies through their settings. You can typically:

  • Block all cookies, or only third-party cookies
  • Clear cookies and site data for individual sites
  • Set the browser to ask you before storing a cookie

Please note that disabling essential cookies will break core features of AutoAvenue. In particular, you will not be able to sign in, stay signed in, or complete a payment if authentication and payment session cookies are blocked.

For guidance on adjusting cookie settings in popular browsers, see the help pages for your browser of choice (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, etc.).

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as our platform evolves or as applicable laws change. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
